WHAT IS BREAST SURGERY?

A surgical procedure to improve the appearance of a woman’s breasts by increasing their size, fullness and shape. When you are looking and feeling good about your breasts, the world will come to you.

There are a variety of procedures, breast surgery typically can be divided into three general categories: augmentation, reduction and reconstruction. All procedures focus on enhancing the appearance, size, weight and contour of a woman’s breasts in a safe manner.

Breast Augmentation

Breast Augmentation also known as augmentation mammoplasty is a surgery to increase breast size. It involves enlargement of the breasts by inserting implants into the breast area, usually in front or behind the pectoral muscle.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

Breast Lift (Mastopexy) involves the raising and reshaping of droopy or sagging breasts. A surgery that raises the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue. Mastopexy also involves repositioning the nipple higher on the chest wall.

Breast Reduction Surgery

Breast Reduction Surgery also known as Reduction Mammoplasty, is a procedure involving the reduction of the size of overly large breasts. This procedure removes excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to achieve a breast size.

Male Breast Reduction

Male Breast Reduction is recommended when weight gain, lifestyle factors, genetic traits and hormonal fluctuations lead to a more ‘feminine’ chest appearance in males. Male Breast Reduction Surgery can effectively treat Gynaecomastia.

2. INCISION

The Crescent Breast Lift procedure is also known as a nipple lift. A small incision is made to correct mild, or Grade I, ptosis. The Benelli Breast Lift removes doughnut shaped tissue after a small incision. The Vertical Mastopexy Breast Lift procedure removes breast tissue after an incision is made. The Full Mastopexy Breast Lift procedure also requires an incision to cut out a crescent-shaped piece of skin above where your breast meets your rib cage.

3. CLOSING THE INCISION

After your breasts are reshaped and excess skin is removed, the remaining skin is tightened and the incisions are closed.

Although you will be able to see the results of your Breast Lift Surgery almost immediately, it can take up to 4-6 weeks for post-surgical swelling to subside properly.

1. AESTHESIA

Depending on the particular surgical approach for your chosen procedure, a local anaesthetic or a general anaesthetic will be administered for your comfort during your surgical procedure.

2. LIPOSUCTION

Depending on your preferred procedure, small incisions may be made along a portion of the edge of the areola or within the armpit. A thin tube is inserted and fat deposits are suctioned and reduced.

3. EXCISION

Excision surgical techniques are typically recommended when glandular tissue or excess skin requires removal to correct Gynaecomastia.

Typically, it takes around 1-2 weeks to make a full recovery following Male Breast Reduction Surgery. Recovery time will vary from patient to patient, and it is important not to rush your recovery and healing process.
